What Is Life Coaching

What is a Life Coach and Why on Earth Would I Need One?

If your life is wonderful, you have met all your desires and are lively life passionately, you do NOT need a life coach. If on the other hand, you are one of millions that is having trouble navigating earth, you may want to keep reading.

How many have finished school of some sort and gone out into the “real” world ill equipped to handle the problems, situations, and struggles they find themselves with. How many institutions have curriculum on how to live the life of your dreams? How many schools teach techniques to get along with your boss or co-workers? How many schools teach how to handle guilt, emotional crisis, finances, spouses, families, and stress in your life? The problem is many people have trouble navigating on earth. We have not been taught how to handle our problems, how to seek out our own inner wisdom and truth. We have not been taught to be ourselves and find our own passion and our own answers. This is where a life coach comes in.

A life coach is a co-creative partner, a person to support and help you to become more of yourself. Coaching is a relationship, a supportive, mentoring relationship to help you achieve YOUR potential. Your coach will be your number one fan and also your biggest challenger, getting you to stretch beyond what you thought you could achieve on your own. A coach has your goals and objectives in the forefront and has no other agenda than helping you attain new heights. Unlike your family and friends who often try to help, but may be operating from an entirely different agenda. A coach is your personal cheerleader, motivator, mentor, life shaker and dream maker. It would be great if we all had these people in our lives, but the honest truth is most of us don’t. We have people smashing our dreams and potential. You need an “uplifter” and that is your coach. Coaching is an old profession really, as sports teams have used coaches forever to bring out the team potential and individual excellence. Actors and congressional candidates all have coaches to spur them on and stretch them further. If the status quo is all you are after, you probably don’t need a coach. If you have an aching feeling that you are not living up to your potential, that you can do and be more, a coach is needed.

What is Coaching?

Coaching is a personal one on one relationship between you and your coach. You and the coach become partners in helping you obtain your desired results. A coach will help you focus on what you want to achieve in various areas in your life. A coach can help in the development and implementation of action plans to achieve your desired results. Some coaches specialize and will only work with specific areas, such as dating coach, business start up coach or executive coach. Coaching begins with a focus on what you want to obtain or change in life. Your dreams and desires will probably impact several different areas of your life. They can impact relationships, finances, career and your personal well being.

Coaching is usually done in two different manors, by phone or in person. Both techniques are beneficial and will depend on how close in proximity you are to your coach, and your own personal preference. Time together is set up in advance whether it is done in person or via the telephone. Coaching is an ongoing process and to create real change a minimum of a three month commitment is usually required. The session will consist of what is happening in your life and what you want to have happen. Together you create a plan to succeed. A coach is only successful when you succeed. The goal of the coach is your success.
